For those wanting a challenge there are a number of world renown sites to chose from. These include: The Mt.Margharita at 5110m part of the legendary Mountains of the Moon.

Only the experienced and fit should attempt an ascent of the peak which rivals the Alps in difficulty.

Less difficult Mountains to climb are Mt. Elgon 4321m in the east of the country. In the southwest there are fantastic day hikes to the summits of the volcanos of Mt. Muhavura 4127m and Mt. Sabinyo found within the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
